DAAD Germany Calling! DAAD Procope Scholarship 2026 Opens for Researchers

DAAD Procope Scholarship Program 2026

The DAAD Procope Scholarship Program 2026 has opened its doors to applications by researchers interested in establishing or enhancing Franco-German academic cooperation. The initiative is sponsored by DAAD and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and aims at short-term mobility in research and travel assistance and joint project work within two years.

This is a research exchange program, which is a project-based scholarship like a degree scholarship. The chosen projects will start in January 2027 and last two years, which is why it will be open to university-based scientists, PhD students, and post-doctoral researchers who will collaborate with a partner organization in France or Germany.

 Key Details

  • Name of the Program: DAAD Procope Scholarship Program 2026.
  • Offered by: DAAD and French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Type: Research mobility grant.
  • Duration: 2 years.
  • Project Start: January 2027.
  • Deadline: 1 July 2026.
  • Eligibility: Researchers at universities or accepted research institutions.

Financial Benefits

The program is less mobile and tuition-based and does not cover tuition or degree funding. Funding can cover the cost of traveling between France and Germany, daily allowances during research stays, and reimburse limited round-trip travel based on the route and project requirements.

The published description shows that the average support is approximately 6,000 euros/year on a project basis. The daily subsistence support is reported as approximately 150 per day in case of French researchers in Germany and approximately 89 to 130 per day in case of German researchers in France.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicants should be associated with a university or well-known research institution. It is not possible to apply individually; the application should be made by a French and a German research team.

Projects that involve early-career researchers are highly favored in the program, particularly PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. It is also cross-disciplinary, and the businesses can only join in case they are officially collaborating with an academic institution.

How to Apply

Candidates interested are required to find a research partner in France or Germany and make a joint project proposal with specific goals, mobility strategies, and anticipated results. The German team is applied via the DAAD, and the French via the corresponding Campus France.

The contents of both submissions have to be equal, as the program is founded on bilateral cooperation. A good proposal must demonstrate the scientific value, complementary skills, and participation of young researchers.
